This cartoon by David Low, published in the Evening Standard on September 24th, 1938, presents a view of the Munich Agreement in which, being present diplomatic representatives of Germany, Italy, France and the United Kingdom, the German occupation of Czechoslovakia was given the green light. This historic episode is a clear and direct precedent of the World War II and gave rise to some propaganda positive toward Hitler’s Germany. The quote by Arthur Neville Chamberlain, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, announcing that peace had been achieved after the conference, is one of the best examples of the appeasement policy, supported by most British but not by Winston Churchill.[/lang_en]
